Betsy was blessed to be raised in a Northern Indiana home where her parents joyfully and consistently lived for Jesus Christ. Her parents raised her to know and obey God, so as a young girl, Betsy walked to the front of her church, knelt at an altar, and asked Jesus to be her Savior.
Betsy attended Olivet Nazarene University where she received a BS in Business Administration. While a student there, she met her husband Jim Evans and married him in 1987. Betsy has always had a love for children and she has spent her life ministering to them. She was the director of children’s ministry in two prior churches, taught at First Baptist Academy, and volunteered in FBCN’s children’s ministry for 12 years prior to assuming her current position. However, her favorite children’s ministry role was raising her own two children Jeff (born in 1989) and Jennifer (born in 1992) to love and follow her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Betsy is called by God to help parents raise their children in the ways of God. She desires to encourage parents to live obedient Christian lives before their children so they will be influenced for Christ as she was by her own parents. She supports parents by assisting them in teaching their children who God is and His wonderful plan of salvation so they too can live a joyful Christian life.
Betsy’s life and ministry verses are:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:28-31 28)
