Kevin was born in Windsor, Maine as the youngest of 7 children. His parents loved the Lord and taught him to do the same. While on the way home from church in May of 1981, Kevin told his dad that he wanted to ask Jesus to come into his life. Right there on the side of the road his dad led him to pray and receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA in June of 1986.
Kevin’s parents played a vital role in his spiritual upbringing. He saw his mom and dad trust God as they left their secular jobs when God called them to go to Liberty University to be trained for the ministry He had for them. They lived their faith and trusted God to supply all their needs. Kevin saw them study the Bible and pray daily. They were by his side at church and youth group, helping him to grow spiritually.
In the summer of 1992 while attending church camp in Panama City Beach, God called Kevin to serve Him. During a dramatic re-enactment of Jesus stumbling while carrying the cross, one of the actors portraying a Roman guard looked at him pointedly and said, “You! Carry His cross!” The Holy Spirit spoke to him clearly as he picked up the cross and walked down the beach. After being mentored by his pastor, he was licensed to preach in June of 1995 by the First Baptist Church of Springville, Alabama and ordained by Southside Baptist Church of Sebring, Florida in 2001.
Soon, Kevin attended Clearwater Christian College and received BA in Church Ministries and in Bible Education. Later he earned an MA in Religion with an emphasis in Church Ministries from Liberty University in 2009.
Kevin met his wife Sarah while they were students together at Clearwater Christian College. She graduated with a degree in Music Education and is a valuable partner in his ministry. They are truly blessed to be the parents of 3 children: Andrew, Ashton, and Jackson. He says that there is never a dull moment in their house!
Pastor Kevin’s goal in working with students is to invite and train young people to be authentic followers of Christ, to help them discover their spiritual gifts and provide practical ways for them to use their gifts and talents to serve Christ.
Kevin’s life and ministry verses are:
“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)
“And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
