Dr. Hayes Wicker has been pastoring Baptist churches for 42 years, serving in Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Florida. He also ministered for a brief time as a Youth Pastor. Raised as a Southern Baptist, he came to Christ as a teenager and was called to preach that same night. He received a B.A. from Grand Canyon University and an M.Div. and D.Min. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Lord has allowed Hayes to preach in various countries and across denominational lines in the U.S. He served as Guest Chaplain of the U.S. Senate immediately after the 9/11 attacks. He has spoken at conferences for Prison Fellowship, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Word of Life, Focus on the Family, and other ministries. He has preached at state Baptist Conventions and Evangelism Conferences, as well as at the National Pastors’ Conference. He is particularly sought after as a speaker for colleges and seminaries, having preached and taught numerous times in Southern Baptist seminaries.
The Lord has also used Dr. Wicker in various areas of denominational service, including President of the Pastors’ Conference, a two-term Presidency of the Florida Baptist Convention, Vice-President of the Oklahoma Baptist Convention, and Chairman of the Resolutions Committee for the Southern Baptist Convention. He has joyfully served on numerous other committees and was recognized as Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater, Southwestern Seminary.
God has blessed his churches with extraordinary growth, baptisms, and spiritual revival. He is grateful to have ministered in many different cultural settings. Since the beginning of his pastorate at First Baptist Church of Naples, Florida, they have significantly grown in both Bible study and worship, growing from a small church in a limited building to a 100-acre campus and a ministry considered to be a megachurch. They also have developed a Christian school, pre-school through high school, and over 100 ministries. Thousands are touched weekly through small groups, worship services, sports, radio, live-streaming on the web, and in many ministries overseas, as well as four language congregations on their campus.
Hayes has enjoyed playing various sports through the years, but he particularly loves to play golf. He is passionate about his three grandchildren and going on date nights with his wife. He loves any time with his children, whether in person or on the phone, and sees them as his primary resume. “To God be the glory, great things He has done.”
