Our church has one of the most unique approaches to Men’s and Women’s Ministry in all of the nation. For many years, our people have been blessed by the teaching of the Word, the emphasis on the unique needs of men and women, and the warm fellowship around tables at these ministries. In RefresHer and Band of Brothers, we will do something that we have never attempted before, beginning August 22 & 23. Ladies and gentlemen will be doing the same study. The women will be in the Worship Center, while the men will gather in the Chapel. However, due to the installation of our new sound system, on the first week of study the ladies will be in the Chapel, and the men will assemble in the Fellowship/Recreation Building. We will return to the usual locations the following week.
The Lord impressed me some years ago that ministry too often tends to follow man’s plan rather than God’s agenda. We are to be like Jesus who did what the Father did and said what the Father said. “The Son can do nothing of His own accord, but only what He sees the Father doing...As I hear, I judge, and My judgement is just, because I seek not My own will but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 5:19, 30). I discovered this principle, articulated by Henry Blackaby in Experiencing God. I urge everyone to purchase the workbook through our Lighthouse Bookstore.
In 1992, Janet and I truly sensed that God was at work in Naples and we determined to join Him and spend the rest of our ministry adjusting to His activity here. In the first months of our work, we led key leaders in our church through this study as a follow-up of my Covenant with the church, which included the principles outlined in “Experiencing God.” The circle of those who have learned to discover and do the will of God has expanded many times.
Janet and I greatly anticipate God’s fresh work as we know that husbands and wives can learn and encounter the Lord together. They can share not only in personal study, but in testimony of what God is doing. May we once again get in on what God is up to and not miss out on meeting the Lord Himself.
