As we celebrate our nation’s independence from eighteenth century tyrannical England, remember that Christians are to be free from financial bondage and enjoy the liberty of generosity. We proclaim, “I will walk in liberty, for I seek Your precepts” (Psalm 119:45). We are presenting Mr. Kent Anderson to assume a new position to become our Director of Stewardship Development. By “friend-raising,” he will work with our staff and laity in equipping us for biblical stewardship, expanding kingdom vision, and providing counsel in financial planning for families. He will offer assistance to grow in generosity, estate planning, legacy giving, family budgets, and dealing with appreciated assets. He is a true American patriot having also served our country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Kent graduated from Wheaton College with a B.A. in Economics and received a M.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University. He is leaving a long, successful financial career as a Senior Vice President in various banks.
Kent and Lisa have been faithful, serving members of our church for years. Lisa has taught Kindergarten at FBA for 20 years. Their adult children love the Lord. Brandt serves as a national security expert to the U.S. Senate; Eric is a skilled Navy doctor; and Kirstin has a ministry to surfers and young adults. Kent has served on the Finance and Personnel Committees, as a trustee, and as a BLG teacher. He has been one of our most reliable, wise advisors in all kinds of difficult decisions. We welcome him to the staff this month. “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).
