Vacation Bible School is more than just a week of fun. It is a week where we open our doors to children and families of our community and connect them with Jesus Christ and His church. According to Lifeway Research, over 2.5 million children attended a Vacation Bible School in 2017, with 70,135 making decisions to follow Christ. These statistics represent churches connecting with their community and deepening their connection with children and families already attending their local body of believers.
Vacation Bible School is near to my heart, because it was a place where seeds were planted, along with conversations about Jesus. I began to feel called into ministry as a young teen volunteer. I can look back and see as a young child how God used VBS as a tool to help me see my need for Him and then to lead me into full-time Children’s Ministry.
Many times people ask if VBS is worth the time, energy, and cost associated with putting on such a large event. From someone who has been personally impacted for eternity by VBS, I say it is worth it!
I want to say “thank you” to our church for your prayers, support and help this past week during VBS. Many lives were impacted and we could not have done it without you!!
