I was 11 years old when a friend invited me to a Christian concert at a nearby church. Not knowing what to expect, I went and listened to music I had never heard before. More importantly, I heard a message that I had never heard before. The message was the Gospel and later that night I gave my heart to Jesus Christ. My life was changed forever. Little did I know that God would later call me to the Gospel ministry and I would be given the privilege of using those same tools of music, audio and lighting to reach others for Christ today!
Our new Worship Center is a blessing and I am humbled to be the steward of some of the most important parts of it. The new technology we have will be used to move forward the mission of First Baptist, “To know Christ and Make Him Known in Southwest Florida and Beyond.” The reach of this ministry goes beyond the walls of our church building. In fact, it is reaching thousands of people every week with the news of Jesus Christ. We average over 350 live stream viewers each weekend in over 12 different countries worldwide! When we factor in the number of “Touches” from our FaceBook live stream, we are reaching thousands of people each week. These “tools” of technology are powerful, impactful and far-reaching.
Truly, the Gospel has not changed since Jesus first spoke it. What has changed is how the Gospel is delivered. Our church is using modern technology in ways that many of us would have never imagined. In doing so, we are able to reach a world in desperate need of God’s love. The Word says in Isaiah 43:19, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” What an exciting time to be serving the Lord! Who could have imagined how quickly and effectively the Word of God could be delivered through technology like it is today? God is always moving and working! Let’s join Him in this “new thing” as we reach the world for Christ!
