Two score and one year ago, I was born in the large metropolis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born into a heritage of Godly parents and grandparents, it was easy to see and understand the love of God and salvation He offers. So, while playing Mickey Mouse checkers with my older brother, he led me in asking God to forgive me of my sins. That decision at the age of 5 has forever changed my eternal destiny.
Having grown up in the church, I began to take the Creator and His Bride (the Church) for granted. I always wanted to please my parents and other adults. This led people to believe that I was a good Christian. However, I was just a “good kid” not wanting to get in trouble. I knew all the answers, behaved like I was supposed to, but I never really PURSUED Christ.
During my junior year of high school, my small church lost its Youth Pastor and I began to fill in teaching lessons and running lock-ins. It was during this time when I felt called to be a Youth Pastor. One of my strong passions is to help Christian students get out of their comfort zone and stop taking their Creator and church for granted, and to start PURSUING CHRIST.
This year at Student Ministry Camp, our camp theme was PURSUIT. We filled Lake Placid Camp and Conference Center with over 400 students and leaders. Please continue to pray for our students to understand that Christ first PURSUED them and that they should be in PURSUIT of Christ on a daily basis. II Timothy 2:22 says to “So flee youthful passions and PURSUE righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”
