We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Ray Casey, his wife Esther and their children to our church and First Baptist Academy this week. In an amazing experience of the Lord’s timing and grace, his calling was affirmed by our Personnel Committee and Staff the night before school began. Having 12 biological children, they have six still at home. Ray is a native of New York, and Esther hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Obviously, it takes an outstanding lady to manage and minister in a home with so many children. Currently, those who are here range from age 4 to 17.
Ray has a D. Min. in Educational Leadership and Master of Arts degrees in Management in International and Non-Profit Business, Biblical Studies, and in Public Policy, all from Regent University and Divinity School. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics from the King’s College. While there, Ray played basketball and later toured to numerous countries with Athletes in Action.
Ray served as the Executive Director for Hagar U.S.A. Inc., a global organization that specializes in aftercare for women and children who have been subjected to human trafficking and severe human rights abuse. He has been Head of Schools in South Carolina, Heritage Christian School in Indianapolis, Indiana and Living Word Academy in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He also has directed advancement for fundraising, vocational placement, and strategic planning, as well as served as an Athletic Director, an ACSI classroom teacher in various subjects, and directed public family policy associated with Focus on the Family and lectured on Christian worldview, and a Biblical perspective on politics, culture, and international relations.
Ray has demonstrated strong convictions when having to make hard decisions, honest assessments of classroom effectiveness, and the integration of biblical truth, arts, and athletic programs. He is strong in leadership development, strategic planning, and team-building. He has stated that our goal is not to pray, “Grind us together, O Lord” but “bind us together!” With a winsome personality, he is a true people person who came to Christ as a college student and particularly because a teacher “made Jesus attractive to him.” We are grateful for how Dr. Doug Pigg has served as our Interim Headmaster this summer, built bridges of friendship with our FBA staff, and with a servant’s heart did whatever was necessary. This entire process has truly been one of “Experiencing God.”
