Pastor Steve was raised in Guntersville, Alabama and accepted Jesus as His Savior at the young age of ten. He is eternally grateful that God gave him Christian parents who influenced that important decision. At the age of 17 he accepted God’s call to ministry. This led him to Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama to prepare for his life calling. During his four years there he volunteered at his home church, preached when given any opportunity, served on church staff in Calera, Alabama and happily met his future wife, Kim House.
After graduating from Samford in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in religion and a double minor in speech and psychology, he accepted an invitation to join the staff as an intern at First Baptist Church, Winter Park, Florida. While there, he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by this wonderful church. In 1985 he was ordained into the ministry by this wonderful church.
His journey would take him next to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Texas at Arlington. He would spend twelve years in Texas, and would serve on staff as youth pastor at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth. By the time he left Texas he was blessed with his wife Kim, and three wonderful children: Steven Taylor, Lee Graham and Anna Spencer. In addition he earned the Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work.
In 1997 our family moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he served for the next seven years as the Minister of Counseling and Minister to Single Adults. He has a great fondness in his heart for Two Rivers Baptist Church because Kim grew up attending this church and they were married there. Then he received the call from FBCN to come as the Single Adult Minister in 2005 and later transitioned to the role of Associate Pastor of Biblical Counseling.
Steve believes that once again God has blessed him greatly to serve wonderful people with a wonderful church staff.
