Transition Process for the Senior Pastor Position
Senior Pastor Search Team
The following verse was given to Lisa as a young girl soon after she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior: “I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand. I will not be moved.” Psalm 16:8. The verse has encouraged Lisa to “set the Lord always before her” by striving to honor Him in all that she says and does. He has always been her strength.
This has also been her desire as a kindergarten teacher for the past 27 years. It is such a joy and privilege for Lisa to help guide the minds and hearts of her students to honor Jesus in their lives, just as she was taught when she was young!
These years of teaching in Christian education have confirmed to Lisa the importance of having a senior pastor who recognizes, supports, and believes in the role Christian education has as an integral part of a church’s ministry in preparing our next generation!
Lisa’s family moved to Naples and began attending FBCN 23 years ago. They have so enjoyed serving at FBCN through these years, by assisting in leading both adult and youth BLG’s and home groups, serving in hospitality, traveling on mission trips to Tanzania and Indonesia, being a part of the Deacon wives’ ministry, supporting the ministry of NCC, serving and participating as a table leader for RefresHer, and helping to plan, decorate, and coordinate many events at both FBCN and FBA.
Edisson strives to serve the Lord in every aspect of life. He is a husband to a Godly woman, a father through adoption & foster care, and a teacher and athletic trainer at Lely High School. He sees each of these roles as an opportunity to reflect and share the gospel. He believes that God has uniquely positioned the family unit to be a central tool in the advancement of His kingdom.
His life verse is Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Edisson has been a member at FBCN for 8 years, serving in a variety of capacities; mission trips, student ministry, preschool ministry, and recently was confirmed as a deacon to serve the church body. Additionally, Edisson holds a Masters in Divinity with a concentration in Professional Ministries and Counseling from Liberty University.
Jason received Christ as his savior at the age of nine. He grew up attending First Baptist Church Naples as a youth and returned to FBCN when he moved back to Naples in 2009. He and his wife were married in 2011, and have served in several capacities within the church. They began the 5th grade ministry and led that ministry for three years. In addition to working with the 5th graders, they have also served in the middle school ministry with Pastor Clydesdale. Jason has had the joy of serving as a deacon at FBCN since 2013. He also has a special connection with the academy as he has both coached and taught at the academy. Jason and his wife feel blessed to serve in different roles with the church and feel drawn to the youth in particular. They are licensed with One More Child and have been fostering for the past three years. This experience has allowed them to demonstrate and teach children the love of Christ as they themselves have been taught at FBCN.
Dr. Lindsey Graham (Vice-Chairman)
Lindsey has been a member at FBCN since January 12, 2004. She is blessed to have been born into a Christian home, having been taught from a young age the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus. Lindsey accepted the Lord when she was eight years old and has intentionally endeavored to walk closely with Him since accepting Him into her life. In every season of Lindsey’s life, Christ has proven faithful and true. She continues to place her hope and trust in Him and longs for the day, the very moment, when she finally stands in His presence and sees Him face to face. This reality helps to shape her every perspective this side of heaven.
Lindsey is joyfully involved in the music ministry of FBCN. She sings in the choir, has played flute and keyboard in the orchestra, and enjoys working with the Naples Christmas Celebration Student Choir from October to December. She has a deep love for her church family and is blessed to see many worshiping congregants from the view of the choir loft each Sunday morning.
She is a full time Christian recording artist and has been blessed to travel to many different churches over the years in concert ministry. Lindsey has experienced different types of churches and has witnessed various types of church leadership. She has been privileged to meet and serve with many wonderful pastors and worship leaders throughout the United States, as well as in Northern Ireland and Sweden. She is currently an online instructor for Liberty University and is in contact with many individuals serving in churches. Lindsey earned her Doctoral degree in Worship Studies from Liberty University. While a student, she met many pastors and worship leaders, and learned the value of relational importance between the Senior Pastor and the church staff. She prays these experiences and insights will prove beneficial should her church family entrust her with the opportunity to serve on the Pastoral Search Committee.
Dr. Charles Lake
Charles grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ when he was nine years old. At the age of fifteen, he renewed his commitment to Christ and accepted His call to Christian ministry.
At FBCN, Charles has and is serving as a BLG teacher, presently co-teaching a study of the Book of Revelation in the Life Builder’s BLG.
After 40 years of pastoral ministry and 10 years of serving with a mission organization, Charles retired in 2005. Since retiring, he has served for 5 years as a Senior Consultant for a church consulting firm, served as an adjunct-professor in several theological seminaries, and has served as interim pastor in five different churches including Riverside Baptist in Ft. Myers and Peachtree Corners Baptist in Atlanta, GA.
When Norm was 15 years old, at summer church camp, Jesus Christ came into his life. It was like God had been patiently waiting for Norm to realize that he needed a Savior. His life changed in ways he did not expect. God transformed Norm’s negative thoughts into a new positive direction in his life.
Norm spent a year in Indonesia with his family after graduating from high school, and then returned to the USA where he started college. Upon completion of his four year degree, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He met and married his wife Joan in Pensacola while stationed there for flight training.
After his time in the Corps, he began a career of commercial flying which led him and Joan to Naples, along with their youngest son. Upon arriving in Naples, they discovered FBCNaples. They enjoyed the preaching of Dr. Wicker, the orchestra, the choir, and particularly the loving and friendly congregation. Norm was ordained as a Deacon in 2000, has served on the Benevolence Committee, and he started the Carpenter’s Crew ministry. Both he and Joan are also table leaders on Wednesday nights.
Norm and Joan have been blessed during their time at FBCNaples. They cling to James 4:6, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” They are thankful to the Lord everyday for all He has done for them, as they can do nothing without Christ.
Andy Petry (Chairman)
Growing up in a Christian home, Andy came to faith in Christ at the age of five. On a dark stormy night in Northeast Ohio, his father led him in a prayer to repent of his sins and accept Jesus as his savior by faith. As a young man, Andy grew in his walk with the Lord and served in many ways within the church. During his early twenties, he wandered from the Lord only to have Him draw Andy back to Himself through the working of His Spirit and the discipleship of a godly friend. After recommitting his life and meeting his wonderful, godly wife, he spent much time studying, teaching, and serving in the church while living in Ohio, Michigan, and now in Florida. Andy has had the privilege to study at the graduate and post-graduate level at Moody Theological Seminary and at Liberty University where he is currently working on his PhD in Bible Exposition.
Andy and his wife Bethany have served in the BLG ministry at FBCN for four years. They currently lead two BLGs on Sunday. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2020. Also, he just finished a three year term on the Personnel Committee and sat as the chair of the Personnel Committee for the last five months of his term. Likewise, he has experience in the corporate world and has been in marketing, sales, and product development in the medical device industry for nearly 15 years.
Jim grew up in a religious home, but his spiritual journey was just about making sure the right boxes were checked. It was not until he was 26 that God showed him that it wasn’t about checking boxes, but about a relationship with Christ whose sacrifice alone was sufficient. A few years later, Jim and his wife Nancy moved to Naples and joined First Baptist where they have been active members for 27 years. During that time, Jim has served in various capacities. Currently Jim works on Wednesday nights with Kindergarten Awana, teaches a Saturday night BLG, and serves as a Deacon. Jim is the executive director of a Christian nonprofit that addresses poverty in Zimbabwe. Jim and his wife Nancy have two children that have grown up at FBCN.
Sherrill (a resident of Naples since 1969) was introduced to Church and learned about Jesus at an early age. He accepted Jesus into his life at the age of 18. After attending Harding University and graduating from FSU, he went into the insurance industry, and eventually opened his own agency in 1996.
Sherrill and his wife Norma have been married for 33 years and they have two sons, Kristopher and Tyler. Their kids attended First Baptist Academy. The family joined First Baptist Church Naples in 2010.
He is currently serving as a Deacon and is the Assistant Director of Men’s Ministry. He and Norma also serve on the hospitality team on Saturday nights and are actively involved in their BLG.
