How Do I Become a Christian?

A Christian is an individual who has made a personal decision to believe in Christ, received His plan for living and has committed to following Jesus. These four basic facts are key to helping you make this decision

  1. God has a purpose for your life.
"The gift of God is eternal life" (Romans 6:23)
  2. Your problem is sin.
"For all have sinned" (Romans 3:23) and "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23) this means your sin is excluding you from God's gift of eternal life.
  3. Jesus Christ came to rescue you from the problem and pain of sin.
"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8) and was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead" (Romans 1:4). Jesus willingly died for you. He paid for your sin upon the cross and then rose from the dead, proving he had power over it.
  4. You must respond to the rescue mission of Jesus Christ.
"To all who received Him (Jesus), to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). You can have eternal life, forgiveness of sin and peace in your heart through genuine belief in Jesus Christ.

Are you willing to turn from your sin and receive Jesus right now? This prayer can  express your heart's desire:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I can't rescue myself. I believe that You died for me to pay this penalty for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I accept Your forgiveness, Your new life, and Your home in heaven. Thank you, Lord. Help me to live for You. In Your name I pray. Amen."
